Digitizing More Efficiently with the New Book Opening Kit for our line scanners
In the world of digital preservation, every detail counts – especially when it comes to scanning bound materials. One frequent challenge: the book fold. Particularly with fragile or valuable books, fully opening them can be problematic. This is exactly where our latest innovation comes into play.
Proven Scanning Position – Now with Optimized Book Opening
Books are still positioned at a 90° angle to the scanning direction – the very principle that gives this scanning method its name. The book fold remains parallel to the scan line, and pages are scanned one at a time. This tried-and-tested technique remains unchanged.
The real innovation lies in this: thanks to a specially developed kit, books now only need to be opened to approximately 70° – while still allowing deep scanning into the book fold. Even tightly bound books can now be captured with precision and without distortion.
Ergonomics Meets Precision
Despite the reduced opening angle, the new kit delivers highly ergonomic handling. Fixing the pages in place, scanning, and turning pages are all intuitive, safe, and comfortable – even during extensive digitization projects.
Perfectly Aligned with the OS C Scanner
The book opening kit is designed specifically for use with our line scanners. Together, they form a powerful, high-precision system that is ideal for digitizing sensitive or rare books – whether in archives, libraries, or research institutions.
Conclusion: Greater Capability, Less Strain
With the new book opening kit for the OS C2 or the OS Q2 scanner for example, Zeutschel expands its solutions for gentle, efficient digitization. The reduced opening angle not only protects valuable materials, but also improves working conditions for scanning staff – all while ensuring consistently high scan quality.
