ZED server functions ideally complement Kitodo environments and improve the use of the open source software.
The ZED server can also be used in other system environments to support and complement existing digitisation workflows. The individual modules can be used separately or installed as a complete package.
As an interactive software solution that can be operated via a web browser, the ZED server helps to automate monotonous, recurring or time-consuming processes in digitisation workflows. The modules and functions are constantly being further developed.
The additional modules in detail:
zedControl is the central control station, the user interface of the ZED server. All modules installed on the server are accessed and configured from the start page.
zedProcessCreator enables the asynchronous automatic creation of a large number of Kitodo.Production processes based on a list of record numbers of the library system used or a database export in a single step.
zedInterfaces imports bibliographic metadata from library catalogues that allow data retrieval via a Z39.50 interface.
zedOSGO! transfers meta and structural data already captured during scanning with the Zeutschel capturing software OmniScan or OmniPro into Kitodo.Production.
zedOCR integrates a range of text recognition systems into Kitodo.Production or other systems. Both Tesseract and Readiris are supported, and access to an ABBYY Recognition Server can also be used.
zedOCRManager provides a graphical overview of the progress of the zedOCR processing of the assigned OCR jobs in the web browser as well as statistical query options for the used OCR page quota.
zedOCRCloud connects a server to ABBYY Cloud OCR. This is a service offered by Zeutschel in which the ABBYY connection and all invoicing for the OCR is carried out via Zeutschel.
zedExporter takes over the parallelised generation of image derivatives for Kitodo.Presentation during the DMS import of processes from Kitodo.Production. It is possible to add an owner footer to the images. PDF files are enriched with a table of contents (bookmarks) based on METS/MODS data. The processing of the export procedures can be controlled in the web browser.
zedContent enables the PDF download of documents, partial documents (structural units), extracts and compilations for printing or forwarding by email.
